Aufderheide, MD, MS, and Demetris Yannopoulos, MD. Dr. Yannopoulos is an interventional cardiologist at the University of Minnesota who pioneered and established the world’s most successful ECMO-facilitated program for patients with refractory cardiac arrest. Dr. Tom Aufderheide is an emergency physician and internationally recognized researcher in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Collaborating for nearly two decades, this synergistic, multi-disciplinary team have brought this innovative approach from bench to patient.
