Clinical Trialist Training 101 (Virtual)

The Clinical & Translational Science Institute of Southeast Wisconsin (CTSI) is pleased to announce the Clinical Trialist 101 Seminar Series addressing foundational level clinical trials research development and management. This program offers a six-part presentation online via Zoom. Registration is now open, please register here.

Intended Audience

Faculty interested in starting, leading, or participating in industry, NIH, or investigator-funded clinical trials. This course will provide an overview of a wide range of topics with a focus on the development of pharma/industry sponsored clinical trials and investigator-initiated research projects.

Overview of Topics

There will be a special focus on how to initiate pharma or device sponsored clinical trials addressing topics such as Confidentiality Disclosure Agreement, study initiation, contract management, budget development, coverage analysis, patient enrollment, financial and regulatory management. In addition, the development of a research idea into a research protocol and funding proposal for investigator-initiated studies will be addressed along with the preparation of NIH grant proposals and budgets. The discussion will also include the importance of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), how to submit a new human research project for IRB review and how to revise the project as requested. Throughout the presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the institutional resources offered by the CTSI  such as the Adult Translational Research Unit (A-TRU), Pediatric Research Unit (P-TRU) and Clinical Trials Office (CTO) and by the MCW Office of Research.
