30 Jul 2011 Milwaukee Regional Research Forum
The Second Annual Milwaukee Regional Research Forum on behalf of of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeast Wisconsin (CTSI) will take place October 24th 2011 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Wauwatosa. The CTSI organizations include: Medical College of Wisconsin, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Marquette University, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Froedtert Hospital, Zablocki Veteran Affairs Medical Center, BloodCenter of Wisconsin, Children’s Research Institute, and Blood Research Institute.
We are pleased to be able to bring together the biomedical research community in this region. We thank the partnering institutions for their resources and commitment to working together to create the CTSI and to secure the necessary funding from the National Institutes of Health to pursue our mission.
The Milwaukee Regional Research Forum was established to inform the community about the CTSI and our collaborative research activities. The Forum offers a unique opportunity to network with representatives of the community and industry. This Forum is a major mechanism for CTSI to reach out to the region and to future partners. Our objectives are centered on improving diagnostics and treatments for human diseases through patient-centered research facilitated by a borderless, collaborative and synergistic environment created by CTSI.
Greater Milwaukee is home to several colleges and universities, including four that collectively spend more than $200 million annually on research and development. How are those institutions transferring new discoveries to the commercial sector for public benefit? Would enhanced collaboration among the four produce greater dividends for our regional economy? What is the appropriate role of our colleges and universities in fostering economic growth and tackling the difficult issues facing our region?
Join the Public Policy Forum at a Viewpoint Luncheon with four higher education leaders, who will discuss the role of our colleges and universities in addressing Greater Milwaukee’s economic challenges
