CTSI Academy Boot Camp – December Registration Now Open

Successful conduct of clinical research depends on the research team’s ability to navigate the many complexities of local and federal regulations, site logistics and clinical operations while at the same time utilizing financial acumen. Developing a sound understanding of these issues and acquiring the ability to accurately fulfill all requirements is essential – but it can be difficult for study teams to obtain the information and training they need.

The CTSI serves as a champion for the research community, and by leveraging the expertise available from our vast network of investigators and research support experts, we are able to provide this crucial information in a concise yet thorough format through our newly revised Boot Camp for clinical research staff. Brought to you by the CTSI Academy with the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Clinical Trials Office (CTO), this program builds on an already existing didactic program but adds a strong focus on enhancing the practical conduct of clinical research at MCW and its partner institutions.

The goal of this program is to provide new research staff with important information on the research environment at MCW and its partners while sharing tips and tools for the safe, efficient, ethical and compliant conduct of research. This program is made possible by contributions from experts at the MCW Office of Research, MCW and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin IRBs, the departments of medicine and pediatrics, the Cancer Center CTO and the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center Research Office.

Boot Camp course materials cover:

  • IRB methods, rationale, and tools for submission
  • tips for effective budget preparation
  • regulatory requirements and tools to manage documentation
  • resources for collaboration with ancillary services
  • management of sponsors.

Each attendee will receive both electronic and printed materials including templates and standardized forms. The Boot Camp offers an excellent overview as well as covering specific topics which will benefit Principal Investigators and research study staff alike.

Our Boot Camp is offered quarterly as two half-day sessions. Registration is now open! In addition, our program is supplemented with workshops focusing on high value topics such as budget negotiations and consenting. Please look for our announcements on upcoming Boot Camp and workshop topics.
