Update to A-TRU

Update to A-TRU as an Ancillary Review within eBridge

Utilizing the Adult Translation Research Unit (A-TRU) services has historically required an ancillary review within the eBridge system. To accelerate study approval times and increase efficiency, the checkbox, “CTSI Adult Translational Research Unit (facility or resources)” in Section 4 of the PRO SmartForm, IRB submission will be removed. The A-TRU will remain an option under Section 6 only as a performance site. Selecting this option will not trigger an ancillary review for your research project. Also, A-TRU ancillary review and approval will no longer be required for amendments submitted in eBridge. However, a signed TRU Letter of Agreement (LOA) will be required to secure IRB approval. LOA will need to be uploaded with the initial submission or with the amendment, in Section 52 of the PRO SmartForm.

Moving forward, to utilize A-TRU services for a new study, please visit CTSI website via the A-TRU page and select “Request Services” to complete the service request form: https://ctsi.mcw.edu/investigators/clinical-trial-support/adult-translational-research-unit. Study teams will need to reach out to the TRU staff directly to report any A-TRU specific modifications to your ongoing research protocols so we may make changes to our flow sheets to match protocol amendments.

This change will be implemented in eBridge on October 18th, 2025. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition during this update and appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Our goal is to streamline processes and enhance the user experience for all researchers. The A-TRU team is readily available to assist with any inquiries or support you may require during this transition. We encourage all users to familiarize themselves with the new service request process to take full advantage of the resources available through the A-TRU.
