Join Us for a MSOE Distinguished Lecture by Mayo Researchers on AI in Medical Imaging
The Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeast Wisconsin Partner, Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites you to the presentation “Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging: Current State and Future Directions.”
The presentation is scheduled for October 22nd from 4:00 – 5:00 PM at the MSOE campus in Diercks Hall, NVIDIA Auditorium. Hear from two Mayo Clinic researchers, Andrew P. Norgan, MD, PhD and Panagiotis Korfiatis, PhD, to learn about artificial intelligence and its role in medicine. The presentation is open to any students, faculty, or staff who are interested in how AI is supercharging the medical field.
This talk will explore:
- The evolving digitization of pathology and its pivotal role in advancing healthcare.
- Current applications of AI in radiology and digital pathology.
- How these technologies are enhancing diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
- Potential pitfalls: over-reliance on AI, data privacy concerns, integration challenges.
- Emerging uses of foundation models and lar language models (LLMs) in medical imaging.
Anyone who wants an opportunity for 1:1 conversations with the presenters can arrive any time from 1:30-3:30PM on prior to the event in DH-443 to learn about their research, how medical research works at Mayo, or pick their brains on AI. The program will also feature a guest appearance from Dr. Dwight Diercks (MSOE Class of ’90) to kick off the Rosie Supercomputer Super Challenge!
