Pediatric Translational Research Unit (TRU)

Services

The Pediatric TRU is located on the 4th floor of the center tower of Children’s Milwaukee campus. You can access the TRU by taking the S elevators to the 4th floor and following the signs to the TRU.

Services offered include: 

  • Research operations and training support - EPIC credentialed research trainer, IRBnet navigation assistance, budget consultation, FDA regulation assistance, and monitoring support for IND/IDE studies.
  • Nursing support - coordination and study support
  • IV starts, Investigation Drug Administration, Cellular and non-oncology gene therapy, and phlebotomy - Ability to draw clinical labs at the time of the research draw.
  • 12 Lead ECG support (not reading/interpreting)
  • Simple lab spinning, storing, and shipping of specimens.
  • TRU Lab: designated as a BSL 2 lab, the lab contains: refrigerated and standard centrifuge machines, Baker Hood for maximum safety when processing specimens and sterile alliquoting, Linda T. and John A. Mellowes Center for Genomic Sciences and Precision Medicine DNA sample pick up site, and all staff are IATA/DOT trained.
  • All RNs are PALS certified nurses

Request Pediatric TRU Services

PTRU Service Requests can now be made via a new CW Research Resources Request form in REDCap.  This online request form consolidates intake forms for multiple areas and service lines at CW.  Research staff will now be able to fill out one REDCap survey to request support and approvals from various areas across campus.

Services included in the online request form are:

  • Cardiology / HHI
  • Imaging
  • Neurology / Neuropsych
  • NICU
  • pTRU
  • PICU
  • PT/OT
  • Primary Care
  • Pulmonary Function Laboratory

Administrators in these areas will receive the completed survey for review and approval. Once approved, the research team will receive an approval notification that can be uploaded into eBridge for IRB approval.
