Introducing the ENACT Grand Rounds, a monthly seminar starting on March 24th, 2025
The ENACT Grand Rounds is a monthly seminar series hosted by the ENACT Network, a collaborative initiative within the CTSA program that empowers researchers to leverage real-world data (RWD) and generate real-world evidence (RWE). The ENACT Network connects researchers with cutting-edge tools, resources, and expertise, enabling innovative approaches to solving translational science challenges. By promoting Open Science and Data Sharing, ENACT fosters collaboration and accelerates the advancement of scientific discovery and translational research.
Through this series, participants will explore how to utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR), ENACT synthetic datasets, distributed analytics, and cohort discovery to address critical healthcare challenges. Expert speakers from across the CTSA Consortium and beyond will guide discussions on a range of impactful topics, including:
- Tools for data management, integration, and visualization
- Advanced analytics such as machine learning and natural language processing
- Clinical decision support, behavioral intervention technologies, and next-gen clinical trial platforms
- Data security, quality assurance methods, and standards development
The ENACT Network serves as a hub for advancing research through the interoperability of digital assets, ensuring secure data usage, and providing informatics solutions that enhance team science and improve health outcomes. By fostering collaboration across institutions, ENACT creates opportunities to tackle complex problems and drive innovation.
This virtual series is open to all CTSA Consortium members as well as investigators at non-CTSA academic institutions. Each session includes presentations from subject matter experts, panel discussions, and interactive opportunities for audience participation, making it a rich platform for learning, networking, and advancing translational science.

Upcoming Session: Monday, March 24th at 3:00 pm ET
The inaugural ENACT Grand Rounds seminar on March 24, 2025, will feature Shyam Visweswaran, MD, PhD, Professor and Vice Chair of Clinical Informatics in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh, and Olga V. Kravchenko, MS, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh.
They will present ENACT’s postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) study, which analyzes data from 22 sites and 1.2 million hospitalizations (2005–2022). The study highlights rising PPH rates, racial disparities, and comorbidity burdens. Using ENACT enclaves and synthetic datasets, researchers built an XGBoost machine learning model with 15 risk factors, showing improved predictive accuracy across multiple sites.
Attendees will explore how ENACT’s secure tools can address healthcare challenges, enhance clinical decision-making, and promote equity.
