Central Collaboratory 2016

Central Collaboratory 2016 is a unique event on Thursday, October 6, 2016 in Milwaukee, WI, bringing academia and industry together for a day of scouting, pitching and partnering.  Inventors and industry leaders will have opportunities to discuss exciting possibilities in technologies, plus learn techniques for game-winning ‘elevator speeches’ from professional pitch coaches.


This event is designed for technology professionals, business development professionals, inventors, technical scouts, NIH-funded institutions, government agencies.


This event presents scouting or presenting opportunities in five tracks:

  • Therapeutics
  • Diagnostics
  • Devices
  • Imaging
  • Manufacturing / Engineering

Hours of Participation

Central Collaboratory 2016 is a full-day of learning, partnering & networking from 9:00am – 6:00pm.


Each technology track has a timeslot assigned. The time allocated for each presentation will be determined by how many presentations are accepted. The presenters will be informed one week before the event about the acceptance of their topic and time allowed. Each presenter is encouraged to present multiple available technologies or opportunities for collaboration. However each presenter is limited to ten technologies maximum. The organizing committee will review your descriptions and select the presentations. Your technology descriptions are limited 500 words.

The presentations will be in an elevator pitch style typically without powerpoint. It is expected that each presentation will be in the 2-5 min range. Either a single individual or multiple individuals can present. A microphone will be available, and the room size will accommodate approximately 100 people. You are welcome to bring props, handouts, or notes however the time it takes to distribute any materials will be counted in your overall time allowed.

Presentation Recommendations:

  • A clear description of the technology, product or service to be offered (if in industry, partnerships sought), and advantages over existing competition
  • Explain the market opportunity or value proposition, include your IP position
  • End with a clear ask of the audience. E.g. ” We are seeking_____ (partnership, collaboration, licensee etc.)

Selection Criteria

  • A clear description of the technology, product or service to be offered (if in industry, partnerships sought), and advantages over existing competition
  • Demonstrated understanding of the market, market opportunity or value proposition and IP position
  • A technology that makes an impact and has a compelling story
