Establishing research collaborations between institutions
The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) in partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), the MCW Biotechnology and Bioengineering Center (BBC) and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) hosted the UWM Innovation Park Discussion/Reception on Thursday, July 12th at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Among the attendees were Joseph Kerschner, MD, Dean and Executive Vice President, Medical College of Wisconsin and Mark Harris, PhD, Acting Dean, School of Freshwater Sciences at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
The event began with a warm welcome from Andrew Greene, PhD, Professor of Biotechnology, Bioengineering and Physiology and Director of CTSI’s Translational Technologies and Resources Program. Dr. Greene invited the attendees to participate discussions about the following four topics and to record their ideas on flip charts located around the room.
Discussion topics:
- Thinking about the future: How do you envision the new UWM Wauwatosa campus facilitating collaboration over the next 5 years?
- Imagine success: In thinking about the new campus, what does success look like? How would you measure success?
- Getting specific: What is the subject of your collaborative research? What does your research team look like?
- Personal Ads: What do you need to facilitate your research?
The UWM Innovation Park Discussion/ Reception proved to be a great opportunity to get people talking and establish research collaborations between institutions.
