Data Management / REDCap for Clinical Research Online Training Course Begins October 27th

A new online Data Management course offering through Vanderbilt University will start on October 27, 2014. The course is available to anyone at no cost (regardless of location or institution affiliation) and will run approximately 5-weeks. We understand this is a busy time of year for most, so have structured assignments and due dates to be relatively flexible.

This course is designed to teach important concepts related to research data planning, collection, storage and dissemination. We will offer information and best-practice guidelines for 1) investigator-initiated & sponsored research studies, 2) single- & multi-center studies, and 3) prospective data collection & secondary-reuse of clinical data for purposes of research. The curriculum will balance theoretical guidelines with the use of practical tools designed to assist in planning and conducting research. We will be leveraging REDCap in the course for examples and assignments.

The course material will be presented through pre-recorded videos, so you can participate during days of the week and times of day that match your schedule. Required assignments will be spaced to enable even those with busy schedules to participate. There is no cost to register or participate in this course and you are more than welcome to sign up and audit if nervous about being able to complete assignments.

We will NOT offer Vanderbilt course credit, but you will receive a statement of accomplishment from Coursera (the educational platform we are using to offer the course). If desired, students may also pay a small fee to receive a Coursera verified certificate – this is completely optional, but a feature many students have requested in previous sessions.

We are very excited about offering this course and have selected topics we feel are highly relevant for anyone with an affiliation or interest in research. If you are interested in taking the course, please click on the link below and sign up through the Coursera website.
