Adult Translational Research Unit News & Updates

The TRU continues to implement changes as part of the restructuring process that we started earlier in 2018. Strategic Update meetings were held in September-October to share feedback from the initial Town Hall Meetings in February-March and results of the survey that was distributed in May. Both assessments provided great insights into the TRU processes and the feedback received has been incorporated into our strategic vision for the future of the TRU.

Dr. Leonard Egede is the Module Lead for the Participant and Clinical Interactions module that houses the TRU. He continues to successfully direct the restructuring process in close collaboration with CTSI leadership. Medical oversight of the TRU has transitioned to two Co-Medical Directors: Dr. Mukoso Ozieh and Dr. Jillian Theobald, who share an equal responsibility for overall unit management. The TRU has also hired a Program Coordinator, Rebecca Gasper, to handle the administrative aspects of the TRU and be the primary contact person for any questions.

An Advisory Board will also be established in early 2019 to provide guidance and outside perspective for the future of the TRU. The Board will consist of 6 senior Principal Investigators (PIs), 2 mid-level PIs, and 2 Coordinators (all members TBA).

The TRU restructuring process will continue into 2019. We appreciate all the feedback we have received so far and are continually striving to better meet investigator needs and ensure quality patient care to advance discoveries that can improve health.
