Module 8: Public Disclosure

The America Invents Act, (also called the AIA), implemented the new “first-inventor-to-file” patent system in the United States as of March 16, 2013. This act changed how publications are considered and how public disclosure of an invention can affect your ability to get a patent on your own invention or intellectual property. In the following video, we’ll explain the new rules of the America Invents Act, present some hypothetical situations in which you might find yourself and show you how to avoid compromising what could be your new invention.
