CTSI Academy Spotlight Seminar Series May 26

A free seminar titled, Working with EHR Data: Defining Your Outcomeswill be presented by the CTSI’s Biostatistical, Epidemiology Research & Design (BERD) on Friday, May 26, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. via Zoom. The featured speaker is Sergey Tarima, PhD, Associate Professor of Biostatistics, MCW.

Electronic health records (EHR) data present many complexities not seen in more traditional chart-review based observational studies. Even when the study cohort has been conceptually defined by inclusion and exclusion criteria, translating a research question into statistical terminology is not a trivial task. Discuss how study outcomes, variables of Interests, and confounding variables are determined, and how the definitions of these components need to be aligned with the EHR data.
