21 May NIH, Northwestern Scientists Develop Potential New Approach to Stop Cancer Metastasis
This new approach potentially could be effective as a therapy after cancer surgery.
On May 16, 2018, NCATS announced new findings from a collaborative study indicating that an identified compound, named metarrestin, can block the spread of pancreatic and other cancers in various animal models.
The team, comprised of researchers from NCATS, the National Cancer Institute and Northwestern University, also observed that mice treated with metarrestin had fewer tumors and lived longer than mice that did not receive treatment.
The results are published in Science Translational Medicine.
