17 Mar Anna Palatnik, MD, Clinical Research Scholars Program Scholar
As a CTSI scholar, I had a great experience participating in Clinical Research Scholars Program. The program introduced me to the available research resources on MCW campus and beyond, helped me develop skills in grant writing, and enabled new multidisciplinary collaborations yielding several publications and grant applications.
My research is focused on preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. I had the opportunity to research these two diseases, both in the lab and in the clinic, during the CRSP program. The real-time feedback I received from Faculty and participants helped guide and troubleshoot my experiments and clinical studies.
I am currently directing my research career into the translation-clinical path with the emphasis of investigating racial disparities in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, which unfortunately are very prominent in the city of Milwaukee. This process would not have been possible without the strong support from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine division for providing me with the protected time to attend the CRSP sessions.
