27 Jun Dr. Gilbert White appointed to NHLBI advisory council
Gilbert C. White, MD, Associate Dean for Research for the Blood Research Institute, has been appointed to the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHBLI) Advisory Council. His term runs through Oct. 31, 2014.
The 16-member council is tasked with advising, assisting, consulting, and making recommendations to the NHLBI and the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services on various activities. These include reviewing applications for grants and cooperative agreements; making recommendations on grant proposals, acquisition and maintenance of NHLBI facilities; and preparing comments and recommendations for the Biennial Report.
The council meets at least four times per year.
Dr. White is also Professor of Medicine, Biochemistry, and Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Medical College; Co-PI of the CTSI and a member of the Executive Committee of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute; Executive Vice President of Research at the BloodCenter of Wisconsin; and Director of the Blood Research Institute.
